WUR video: From sugar beet to soda bottle

26 January 2017

The Week of the Circular Economy ran from 16 to 24 January. Wageningen University & Research developed three videos for nu.nl, focused on their work in the field of sustainable resources for materials from algae, dandelions and sugar beet. The videos are in Dutch, but you can turn on English subtitles. One of the videos has the title ‘From sugar beet to soda bottle’.
Vegetable residual material, part of biomass, is currently used mainly for food and animal feed. But residual products still remain after processing, such as the pulp left over from sugar beet. Interestingly, this pulp can be used to make plastic as Jacco van Haveren explains (News Item WUR, 20 January 2017).
