Packaging waste in the consumer news - summer of 2017

04 September 2017

During the summer of 2017, the Dutch national stations NOS and NPO Radio 1 paid attention to packaging waste a number of times. On 25 July, the subject of radio programme ‘Dit is de Dag’ on NPO Radio 1 was ‘How can we push back plastic waste?’ Four guests discussed the subject, each from their own expertise.
Two articles by the NOS take the perspective of the waste processing companies: ‘Separated waste not in the gray waste bag’ (7 July) and ‘ Waste processing companies fed up with white PET bottles and multilayer crisps bags’ (19 July). An article of the NOS, published on 26 June, discussed the role of the consumer: ‘We don’t mind separating waste, but we don’t like taking it away ourselves’.
