NL: New Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC)

04 September 2017

The European classification of a number of substances has changed. 19 substances have now been classified as CMR (carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic for reproduction) category 1A or 1B. These substances therefore now have the status Substance of Very High Concern (SVHC) in the Netherlands. They have also made a catch-up effort for (groups of) substances with REACH restrictions and a PBT substance. All of these also qualify as SVHC.
The substances now classified as CMR category 1A and 1B have been recorded in Regulation (EU) 2017/776, which is applicable from 1 December 2018. Because the substances are classified as CMR the news classification is of force immediately (Website RIVM, 1 June 2017).
