NL: Labelling of game meat products is often incorrect

19 December 2017

The labelling of game meat products often does not comply with the labelling laws and regulations. This is the conclusion of a random check performed by N&S Quality Consultants who surveyed 75 labels of various types of game meat products and regular meat products. 70% of the game meat products were labelled incorrectly compared to 20% of the regular meat products. On a number of products, even the compulsory list of ingredients was missing. They also found labels that did not mention the presence of ingredients and substances that can trigger an allergy or intolerance. On some products, no contrasting typography was used for the listed allergens (FoodHolland, 8 December 2017).
