Novel identification technology for post-consumer PET streams

19 April 2017

The EU-funded Polymark Consortium has developed a new technology enabling the identification and sorting of polymers, focusing on PET as a start, in the high-value plastics waste stream. During a workshop held on 15 March a video about the technology was presented and 3 presentations were given.
First subject was the development of the chemical marker. Second subject was the development of a spectral identification technology that detects the marker and decodes the information in order to separate the post-consumer plastic packaging. In the third presentation the development and functionality of the Polymark industrial scale sorting system was explained (Press Release Polymark, 23 March 2017).
