FR: Special pictograms on products with endocrine disruptors

24 November 2017

On October 26, a resolution was introduced in the French National Assembly that would amend the Public Health Code to require special pictograms and warning text on products found to contain endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs). The pictograms would accompany the phrase “Not recommended for pregnant women.”
The resolution cites several suspected EDCs by name: bisphenol A, triclosan and di-n-butyl phthalate (DBP). It also states that a National Institute of Health and Medical Research study “shows that the exposure during pregnancy to certain phenols and phthalates is associated with behavioral disorders of boys between 3 and 5 years” (Recycling Laws International, 10 November 2017).
