FR: New EPR organisation Léko joins Eco-Emballages+Adelphe

23 June 2017

Beginning in 2018, packaging producers and importers will have a third compliance organisation option. On 5 May 2017, four ministries lead by the Ministry of Environment, Energy and the Sea, approved Léko to provide packaging takeback services across the country. Léko joins two long established French packaging EPR organizations, Eco-Emballages, founded in 1992, and Adelphe, founded in 1993. Adelphe joined Eco-Emballages in 2005.
Léko filed an application with the French Government in January to become an alternative EPR organization. The approval regulation authorizes Léko to operate from 1 January 2018 until 31 December 2022 (News Item Recycling Laws International, 26 May 2017).
