EU: Four new SVHCs added to the Candidate List

26 January 2017

ECHA has added four new SVHCs to the Candidate List based on proposals by France, Sweden, Germany and Austria, following the SVHC identification process with involvement of the Member State Committee. The Candidate List of substances of very high concern (SVHCs) for authorisation now contains 173 substances.
The new substances included in the Candidate List and their SVHC properties are: 4,4’-isopropylidenediphenol (bisphenol A; BPA) and 2 Nonadecafluorodecanoic acid (PFDA) because they are toxic for reproduction. 3 p-(1,1-dimethylpropyl)phenol and 4 4-heptylphenol because of the equivalent level of concern having probable serious effects to environment (ECHA Press Release, 12 January 2017).
