DE: UBA publishes paper on nanomaterials characteristics

21 December 2017

Determining the environmental fate of an expanding array of nanomaterials presents scientific and regulatory challenges, but Germany's Federal Environment Agency (Umwelt Bundesamt or UBA) may have taken a first step with the release of a study paper titled, "Considerations about the relationship of nanomaterial's physical-chemical properties and aquatic toxicity for the purpose of grouping."
The paper details the steps researchers took in conducting their study on the properties of 14 widely used nanomaterials. The paper concludes with seven recommendations for the further development of nanomaterials groupings to help determine their ecotoxicity (State Recycling Laws Update, 4 December 2017).
