The ROI of reducing food loss and waste

31 March 2017

A study evaluating cost and benefit data for 1,200 business sites across 700 companies in 17 countries, has found that nearly every company has achieved a positive return on their investments (ROI) to curb food loss and waste in operations.
Initiator of the study is the Champions 12.3 collective of businesses, research institutes and NGO’s dedicated to inspiring ambition, mobilizing action, and accelerating progress toward achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goal 12.3. This aims to lower the per capita global food waste by 50% at the retail and consumer level, and to reduce food losses along production and supply chains (including post-harvest losses) by the year 2030.
