Conference report: plants and CO2 as alternatives to petroleum

30 August 2017

The conventional chemical industry may well increase the use of sustainable raw materials such as plants and CO2 to conserve limited fossil resources, according to the Raw material summit held 20 June 2017. The summit was held at the Technical University of Berlin and organized in collaboration with DECHEMA (German Society for Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology) and Covestro.
Representatives of the political, scientific and business spheres pointed out that there are numerous promising approaches for producing chemical products virtually without petroleum. Germany has a leading role to play in the view of the participants (News Item Covestro, 20 June 2017).
