CE Delft report ‘Biobased plastics in a circular economy’

31 October 2017

In September 2017 CE Delft published the report ‘Biobased plastics in a circular economy’. This study, requested by the Ministry of Environment and Infrastructure and the Ministry of Economic Affairs, provides the foundation for further policy development regarding biobased plastics. The report was sent to the Dutch House of Representatives on 24 October.
The overall conclusion is that biobased plastics can play a vital role in a circular economy. Together, a high recycling rate and the substitution of the remaining inputs by sustainable biobased resources provide an attractive vision for a sustainable future. Adopting a (EU) ban on oxo-degradable plastics is one of the recommendations.
