Exposure to mineral oils less harmful than presumed

03 September 2018

According to the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), exposure to the mineral oil type MOSH is less harmful than presumed. For the other type, MOAH, more knowledge needs to be gathered to assess how harmful it is. The NVWA and RIKILT are working together on the development of suitable analysis methods. The EC has given the member states until 1 October 2019 to do this research.
On 22 June, minister Bruins (MZS) has promised he would have the measures for the food industry checked. This check will be done as soon as the analytic measures are available and the results of the monitoring by RIKILT and RIVM have been published (Newsletter Waar&Wet, 3 July 2018).
