Handling heavy corrugated packs: Analysis clamping pressure

31 October 2017

Researchers at Pusan National University in the Republic of Korea developed a numerical model to determine the theoretical minimum clamping pressure required in carton clamp handling of heavyweight corrugated package (HCP). The main factors in the model were the load weight and the effective contact area of the clamp arm. Field tests were performed to validate the theoretical minimum clamping pressure calculated from the model.
They found that the suggested approach can be a useful means for estimating the clamping pressure of the carton clamps used to handle the HCP. An article about the research is published in the International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering.
