Food safety management systems: ISO 22000 revised

02 August 2018

Food safety is about the prevention, elimination and control of foodborne hazards, from the site of production to the point of consumption. This is stated in a press release published on 19 June in which ISO announces the publication of the new edition of NEN-EN-ISO 22000:2018. This standard specifies requirements for a food safety management system. All requirements are intended to be applicable to all organizations in the food chain, regardless of size and complexity. Organizations that are directly or indirectly involved include organizations providing transportation, storage and distribution services and suppliers of packaging materials (World Packaging Standardisation Newsletter, July 2018).
