Top 10 environmental impact of the average consumer

23 November 2017

CE Delft has made a top 10 of the environmental impact of the average consumption of one person per year in the Netherlands. They looked both at the visible impact and the hidden impact. Both the activities the consumer is able to influence and the aspects that are not under his/her control have been taken into account.
Purchasing goods and the consumption of meat clearly have a higher environmental impact than the other categories. For many people this result is probably surprising. Experience shows that most people think that energy use, transportation and sometimes waste and packaging have the highest impact on the environment (News Item CE Delft, October 2017).
