SE EPA publishes guidelines for new plastic bag reduction law

21 April 2017

The Swedish EPA has published guidance documents designed to help retailers and bag manufacturers/importers comply with the country's new thin-film plastic bag law (Ordinance 2016: 1041). The agency also reminded retailers that the law will take effect on 1 June 2017.
Plastic bag producers and importers will need to begin record keeping on the number, weight and type of bags they produce or import for later reporting. Other guidance documents address the specific requirements of the law (such as types of plastics and their thicknesses covered) and informing/educating consumers about the law and the need to reduce bag consumption (Recycling Laws Update Bulletin, 5 April 2017).
