Roadmap to smart and consumer-centric food production

We are moving into the era, where food production and digitalisation will merge to form a new food economy. The transition is already under way – led by consumers. Together with companies in the sector, VTT has created three change paths. They are based on identified drivers and emerging technologies. The Food Economy 4.0 roadmap describes new ways of thinking about the production, delivery and purchase of food. Views on changes in packaging are included.
The three identified change paths are: From mass production to personalised solutions; From centralised to agile manufacturing and distribution and From horizontal to vertical food production (News Item VTT, 20 February 2017).
