Parcel label facilitates EU cross-border e-commerce

13 July 2017

E-commerce associations, courier-, express- and postal services in Europe came together to standardize delivery chain management, so that all can use the same standard.
Recently CEN/TS 17073:2017 was published specifying the interface between the e-merchant (any commercial customer sending parcels) and the first logistic operator. One of the items of the interface is the physical label attached on the postal item: contents, sizes, minimum requirements to guarantee the quality and efficiency of the logistic process (sorting, delivery). The other item is the electronic exchanges between the sender and the logistic operator (World Packaging Standardisation Newsletter, July 2017).
