Review article on biodegradable polymers for packaging

26 January 2017

Research, the most recent advances and the new aspects of biodegradable polymers, such as polylactic acid (PLA), polysaccharides, and proteins, are discussed in a paper by researchers at Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication in China.
In addition, new biodegradable polymers, the polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) family, which are biodegradable thermoplastic polymers produced in the microbial cells as an energy reserve through a fermentation process, have drawn more attention as promising sustainable packaging materials. The article with the review was published for the 2016 International Conference on Power Engineering & Energy, Environment (PEEE 2016).
