On the way to 90% glass recycling in the Netherlands

03 July 2017

In spite of the fact that Dutch citizens traditionally can find the bottle banks very well, the Netherlands still doesn’t recover the legally required 90% of glass (83% in 2015). In 2016, the action plan for glass was drawn up to reach the goal of 90% by the end of 2018. Through an intermediate report the Dutch Packaging Waste Fund showed that the implementation of the action plan is on course.
In 2017, together with over 40 municipalities in which glass recovery is falling short of the national average of 20 kilograms per inhabitant per year, the Packaging Waste Fund will examine what the possible causes are and which actions are desirable (Press release Packaging Waste Fund, 8 June 2017).
