NVWA: Risk assessment mineral oils in cheese biscuits

25 April 2017

In December 2016 a supermarket discovered that there was high amount of MOSH and MOAH in two types of cheese biscuits of their own brand. The supermarket notified the producer, who in his turn notified the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA). The company took precautionary measures and stopped the production and blocked the stocks.
Based on the available information, the NVWA has asked the Front Office Food and Consumer Product Safety RIVM-RIKILT to make a risk assessment. The conclusions of this risk assessment are that consuming large quantities of these cheese biscuits causes no direct health threat (News Item NVWA. 3 April 2017).
