NL: Closing the plastic loop requires far-reaching measures

28 September 2017

The Netherlands Institute for Sustainable Packaging (KIDV) has done research that has, for the first time, mapped and investigated the entire plastic (packaging) chain. The research offers insight in the functioning of the plastic chain and shows at which points in the chain the measures are effective.
It also shows that businesses in the supply chain can close the loop a bit further, both economically and in terms of raw materials, in the period 2018-2022. However, the research also clearly indicates that fully closing the loop can only be done through far-reaching measures that partially lie outside the plastic packaging chain (News Item KIDV, 31 August 2017).
