NL: Results of litter pilot ‘Schoon Belonen’ published

19 December 2017

Fighting litter requires a broad approach. From this starting point the VNG, Packaging Waste Fund and Natuur & Milieu started the pilot ‘Schoon Belonen’ in 2016. The results have now been published.
In the past two years, 77 municipalities and 680 social organisations worked together to prevent and fight litter in the Netherlands as much as possible as part of the pilot project ‘Schoon Belonen’. Schools, sport clubs and other social organisations were rewarded for collecting and clearing up small plastic bottles, cans, and any other packaging material. The way in which each organisation was rewarded differed for each municipality (Press Release VNG, 28 November 2017).
