NL: Growth Biobased Economy continues

04 September 2017

More and more companies in the Netherlands are active in the biobased economy (BBE). The government also increasingly contributes to research in this field. This is mentioned in the ‘Monitoring biobased economy in the Netherlands 2016’ of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO.nl), which was commissioned by the Ministry of Economic Affairs. This monitoring is based on the numbers for 2015. These show that the BBE is steadily growing. Both businesses and government are committed to the development of the BBE. In one year the number of BBE companies grew from 947 to 1,110, a growth of 17%. During that same period the government subsidy for BBE research grew by 10% (News Item RVO.nl, 3 July 2017).
