Towards IoT-based automated e-fulfillment packaging

29 August 2017

Robotics researchers from Taiwan have published the fundamentals of an e-fulfilment packaging system using the Internet of Things (IoT) with an advanced packing algorithm. A cyber network connects each element to achieve high velocity and flexibility. The system receives the online customer orders and rearranges and deploys the items in their box. The proposed packing algorithm controls the arrangement of items. It compares the size and volume of items and boxes (crates, …) to choose a box of suitable size, as well as the optimal arrangement of items.
Advanced robotic order picking for e-fulfilment is shown at the Logistica exhibition 28-30 November 2017 (Utrecht, the Netherlands).
