Food is becoming service – Opportunities for producers
The services connected to our food already make up more than 40% of our total spending on food and drinks. In the next few years this percentage is only expected to grow.
We are not going to eat more food in the coming years. In the best case the sales volumes remain stable, which means that market growth will have to come from a higher price level. That is not unfeasible, because the consumer is certainly willing to pay more for more convenience, less concerns and more experience. Which opportunities does this demand for more service provide to food producers? These opportunities are discussed in the Rabobank theme update ‘Food Producers’ (News Item Rabobank, January 2018).
