European Recommendation on the monitoring of mineral oils

27 January 2017

According to the EC, Member States should, with the active involvement of food business operators as well as manufacturers, processors and distributors of food contact materials and other interested parties, monitor the presence of mineral oil hydrocarbons (MOH) in food during 2017 and 2018.
The monitoring should cover food products as well as food contact materials used for those products. To ensure uniform application of this recommendation and in order to generate reliable and comparable results of the monitoring, specific guidance will be developed by the European Union Reference Laboratory for Food Contact Materials (Official Journal of the European Union, 17 January 2017).
