European B2C e-commerce Report 2017 published

European ecommerce turnover increased by 15% to €530 billion in 2016, according to the new European BC2 E-commerce Report. For 2017, the turnover is forecasted to reach around €602 billion, at a growth rate of nearly 14%. Western European countries continue to lead the way, as the largest market for ecommerce, with the UK topping the list with approximately 33% of the European online sales. In the mature ecommerce markets, the proportion of consumers shopping online is highest, 87% in the UK, 84% in Denmark and 82% in Germany for 2016. In contrast, the share of people shopping online is the lowest in Romania, Macedonia and Bulgaria (Press Release Ecommerce Europe, 26 June 2017).
