E-commerce over the border: opportunities for Dutch retailers

29 March 2017

In 2015, e-commerce was good for 11% of all Dutch retail sales. In 2016, this has increased to 14% (Thuiswinkel.org). ABN AMRO has published a new report about how e-commerce is developing in the countries surrounding the Netherlands. Which factors influence the buying behaviour of consumers?
20% of export from the Netherlands goes to Germany, and 10% to Belgium. Therefore, the research is specifically aimed at these countries and at the United Kingdom and France. The following retail subsectors are discussed: Beauty and personal care; Fashion; Consumer electronics, Furniture & interior; Small domestic appliances and Toys (News Item ABN AMRO, 28 February 2017).
