DK: Container deposit scheme implements QR-code technology

19 October 2017

Dansk Retursystem, the Danish beverage container deposit scheme, has announced that it is offering QR-Code technology to merchants, service stations, restaurants, offices and other small businesses to retrieve their empty containers. The system, which uses smart phones and a QR-Code app, is called MobilBooking.
Previously, businesses with empty containers ready for pickup would have to phone Dansk Retursystem or submit a request online to schedule a container pickup. Now a push of a smart phone camera button initiates the process, which has already been tested through a trial using nearly 100 businesses (Recycling Laws Update Bulletin, 5 October 2017).
