DFTA meeting: Flexo and/or digital in packaging print?

29 May 2017

A recent meeting by the German Flexographic Print Association DFTA addressed the future of digital packaging print and flexo packaging print from both a market and a technological perspective. NVC director Michael Nieuwesteeg shared insights about the perspectives of brand owners and retailers on this topic.
Digital print is making inroads in labelling and specific other packaging areas, however flexographic print is also showing solid growth rates. New flexo technologies like Expanded Gamut Fixed Colour Palette create new opportunities as well to increase efficiency and print shorter runs. Further in-line automation in line with the Industry 4.0 thinking is expected in any case.
