Pressing letter scientists: Need for political vision robotisation

29 March 2017

The Dutch government needs to urgently start working on the theme robotisation. Without that action, it will be disastrous for hundreds of thousands of jobs and for our economy. That is the message of a group of 20 scientists in a pressing letter. Employers and unions support their appeal.
We don’t know exactly how many jobs will disappear in the coming 20 years, 5, 10 or even 30%. It is clear however that our work will definitely and unrecognisably change. In about 60% of all jobs people perform tasks that could be partially robotised and automated. The scientists stress that at the same time robotisation also offers opportunities (News Item Tilburg University, 20 February 2017).
