NL: Possible law harmful substances from recycled packaging

11 January 2016

Minister Schippers wants to make agreements with industry to set rules at European or national level about harmful substances that come from recycled packaging. One of the reasons is the Foodwatch report that states that food products that are sold in the Netherlands contain harmful substances originating from its packaging.
The minister is going to talk to industry about the initiatives that have been taken and which additional actions can possibly be taken. At the same time an investigation is taking place to determine whether a limit for the migration of mineral oils from paper and board to food products is the right measure to control the risks for public health (VMT, 4 December 2015).
