Global pharmaceutical anti-counterfeiting technology market

30 May 2016

In a new report visiongain predicts that the global pharmaceutical anti-counterfeiting technology market will reach $6.5bn in 2020. The report focuses on the submarkets of the market, including barcodes, radio-frequency identification (RFID), taggants and holograms/OVD.
One of the biggest concerns regarding counterfeit drugs is that patients may be taking a medication with little or no therapeutic value. Too much or too little active ingredient in the counterfeit product is potentially dangerous as it may interact with other medications prescribed to the patient and this can lead to unforeseen health problems. At worst, it leads to patient death (News Item visiongain, 12 May 2016).
