VIL to test new networks for logistics

18 November 2016

Low power wide area networks (LPWAN) such as Sigfox or LoRa could well play a major role in the future. In the project WiN4track, the Flanders Institute for Logistics (Vlaams Instituut voor de Logistiek or VIL for short) will investigate what these wireless, energy-efficient networks could mean for tracking and monitoring assets and high value goods. The project was started in October 2016 and has a total lead time of 14 months. 15 companies are participating.
The main aim of the project is to demonstrate the potential and possibilities of LPWAN networks and equipment and to test them for asset tracking and monitoring of high value and theft or condition sensitive goods in logistics.
