Updated Blue Angel ecolabel to roll out in January
Germany's Blue Angel ecolabel celebrated its 40th anniversary this year, and on 29 August the Federal Ministry of Environment announced a slight redesign of the graphic and the addition of more information alongside the graphic to make it more useful to consumers when making purchasing decisions.
Instead of featuring only a hyperlink to the Blue Angel Internet address and the number of the awarding authority, beginning on January 1, 2018, "an explanatory panel with the most important environmental and health benefits" of the product can be displayed. Today the Blue Angel is available for seven categories of products (Recycling Laws International Bulletin, 8 September 2017).
