Windesheim students experiment with drones in warehouse

27 January 2017

In the past few months, Windesheim students were experimenting with the technology of the future. Their conclusion: fully autonomous flight with drones in a warehouse can even be realised with cheaper types of drones. Wi-Fi signals have to be taken into account, though. Mobile phones can disrupt the connection with the drones.
For their research, the students turned a large room into a warehouse with storage racks and boxes, but also with safety nets. Eventually the students managed to let the drones right through the aisles and to have them register products by scanning QR codes. Barcodes and RFID appear to be less suitable (News Item Windesheim, 17 January 2017).
