Custom packaging for e-commerce – Consumer preferences

In a survey, Shorr addressed adult e-commerce shoppers representing a cross-section of Americans. It shows consumer preferences around custom packaging and how shopping frequency and spending impacts these preferences. Premium shoppers (customers who spend more than $200 per month) place a value on custom packaging design. People who spend more, return more. Premium Shoppers are 22% more likely to return a product, than those spending less than $50. Nearly 80% of the respondents prefer to return the item in its original packaging, and 95% of customers will do repeat business if the returns process is easy, placing an importance on return-ready packaging (News Item Shorr, February 2016).
