Harmful chemical substances in your food

01 March 2016

Dutch television programme Radar reports that Wemos – an organisation championing the right to health – and TNO tested a number of popular food products for the level of Bisphenol A (BPA) they contained. They found BPA in 4 out of 5 of the tested products. None of these products individually exceeds the limits set by EFSA of 4 micrograms kilogram of body weight per day, but it is unclear how much the daily intake of endocrine disruptors is in total. European policy is a long time coming. Recently the European Commission was rebuked by the European Court of Justice and urged to make haste with the scientific criteria for endocrine disrupting substances (Radar, 8 February 2016).
