Project BioKleur: Biobased dyes for packaging

30 August 2016

Researchers of Avans Hogeschool have secured €850,000 in funding from the national taskforce for applied research SIA so they can do research together with SMEs. One of the winning projects is BioKleur (BioColour).
BioKleur performs research on biobased dyes for packaging materials. The availability of biobased dyes is very limited and they often do not meet the quality criteria that are used for printing on paper and plastics. That is why synthetic dyes are still used most of the time. The goal of project BioKleur is to develop more knowledge about natural dyes and the possibilities for applying them in paper and plastic (News Item Avans Hogeschool, 6 July 2016).
