NL number 1 again in DHL Global Connectedness Index 2016

19 December 2016

The world’s overall level of global connectedness finally surpassed its pre-crisis peak during 2014 and continued to increase, but more slowly in 2015. This and much more can be concluded from the 2016 edition of the DHL Global Connectedness Index. The 10 most globally connected countries were (in descending order): the Netherlands, Singapore, Ireland, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Belgium, Germany, the United Kingdom, Denmark, and the United Arab Emirates. Globalization Hotspots were: Singapore, Manama, Hong Kong, Dubai, and Amsterdam. When the absolute size of the international trade is taken into account, Hong Kong, London, New York, and Paris can be added (Press Release DHL, 15 November 2016).
