NL: PBL report ‘Raw material for the circular economy’

27 October 2016

To find an optimal way to handle raw materials it is necessary to change the waste policy: not only make decisions based on weight and volume, as is the case now, but also on the value of the raw materials and the environmental impact that can be prevented with the help of collection and reuse. This is stated in the report ‘Grondstof voor de circulaire economie’ by the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency PBL.
New forms of cooperation and connections between organisations are necessary for the optimal use of raw materials. What is waste for one organisation could be a valuable resource for another. One example is producing boxes from tomato stalks (News Item PBL, 27 September 2016).
