NL Government starts investigation of mineral oils in 2017

20 December 2016

Early 2017, the Government of the Netherlands will start a monitoring study on mineral oils MOAH and MOSH in packaging. Products like baby food, rice, pasta, and cornflakes will be investigated. In November a recommendation was passed that acknowledges that mineral oils can be harmful.
In the ‘action plan mineral oils in food products in the Netherlands’ of the ministry of Health, Welfare and Sports it says that at the moment there is no suitable method for analysis, and that this is now being developed by RIKILT in collaboration with the laboratory of the NVWA in Groningen. The method for testing food products is expected to be ready early in 2017 (VMT, 12 December 2016).
