NL Home-delivery market for food almost doubled since 2014

25 October 2016

The Dutch home delivery market for food has grown spectacularly in the past two years. These results are provided in research by the Netherlands Food Service Institute (FSIN). FSIN projects the market to be worth €1.7 billion in 2016. In 2014 the market was worth around half of this amount.
FSIN defines two main categories in the market: the category Meal Delivery (for example pizza delivery and foodservice/catering industry) and the category Cold Food & Beverage Delivery (supermarkets, food box deliverers etc.). The past two years many newcomers have entered the market. Thousands of companies that prepare food have made a start with delivery services (News Item FSIN, 6 October 2016).
