NL: Growth of online groceries’ share of turnover researched

12 January 2016

Various parties and experts give forecasts about the future of online food retail, but these predictions vary considerably and are often ill-founded. The Erasmus Food Management Institute released a management report on the growth potential of online groceries in the Netherlands. The report sheds light on current developments in the online food retail sector in the Netherlands, together with the provision of a growth prognosis of this sector towards 2020-2025.
By extrapolating the growth figures of the English market, the EFMI estimates that the share of turnover that online groceries will have will grow from 1.3% in 2015 to approximately 3% and 5.75% in 2020 and 2025 respectively.
