NL beer sector delivers substantial economic contribution

29 June 2016

The Dutch beer sector is the second largest beer exporter in the world, provides 65,000 jobs and produces 2 billion euros in taxes annually for the Government of the Netherlands. In the past 3 years, the number of Dutch brewers more than doubled from 120 to over 300. This is according to research done by RegioPlan commissioned by the Dutch brewers association. The report discusses the development of the beer sector since 2012. The strong international position of the Port of Rotterdam and the presence of strong sectors that supply to the brewery sector are two important factors that determine the Dutch position as beer exporter. For example, the Netherlands has a strong packaging industry.
