NL: Advice of BuRO about Bisphenol A

04 April 2016

NVWA’s Office for Risk Assessment and Research (BuRO) was asked to formulate rules based on the recommendations of the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) about Bisphenol A (BPA).
BuRO advises the Ministry to give a positive reaction to the EU proposals to lower the SMLs in food contact materials and toys and to urge EFSA to reconsider its advice about BPA. BuRO also advises to create a list of the products that entail the highest risks and to inform consumers about these. Additionally BuRO recommends a reduction of the limit of the permitted concentration of BPA in drinking-water to 0.2 µg/L or less (Newsletter Waar&Wet, 15 March 2016).
