Labels – Tool for informing consumers and promoting products

26 July 2016

Researchers at the University of Pitesti in Romania studied the role of the label as a tool to promote products and to correctly inform consumers. They found that when it comes to purchasing a product, the respondents pay great attention to the company's and brand’s reputation. They also are concerned about food safety and find traceability important.
When asked what, in their opinion, the primary role played by the label is, most respondents felt that it is the role of guarantor of quality, being followed by that of protector, of insurer of a healthy diet and, lastly of an element which provides manufacturers differentiation. An article about the research is published in Economic Sciences.
