For countries with high salaries like the Netherlands robots are chiefly an opportunity

10 June 2014

The Netherlands can turn robots to advantage, according to an analysis by the ING Economical Bureau. Technologies that can save on labour are attractive for countries with high salaries and where the number of working hours is not increasing. The Dutch are becoming increasingly highly-educated and absorb new technologies relatively quickly.
The employed are also used to rapid changes and learning and are favourably disposed to this. It can help to see the robot as a companion as opposed to being the enemy. The question that will help the Netherlands is not how we should develop in spite of robots, but how we can make the most of the opportunities that arise thanks to robots.
